Awesome images, Melvin! I tried to spread the locations throughout the months, so did not necessarily chose what I thought was the best in each month (if you see what I mean!).
Well, thank you for voting firstly and your tactic in trying to spread out the locations throughout the months so as to not repeat a location two months running is a common one but fear not, it’s all looking great regardless of the outcome. Many thanks for voting too by the way.
Hi Richard. Thank you very much for voting. I guess it was a cop out this year in trying to decide on the final twelve images myself so I’m more than happy to pass the buck this year, ha, ha. I hope to see you soon.
Hi Sandi. You know as soon as I read your comment I facepalmed myself. I completely overlooked the castle image. How could I? It was one of my favourites from 2017. I could be controversial and overrule one of the months and promote it to the calendar but I think the better option would be to include it in my 2021 calendar instead.
Thanks Chris. I aim to have a printed calendar in my hands by the middle of August time after which point, they’ll be available for pre-order on my website. Thanks for voting by the way. Much appreciated.
Thank you Bill. I am always trying to find a way to interact with those who take the time to follow me and support me on this wondrous journey of mine and I thought why not have people get involved. We all love to judge and pass comment and this way, perhaps I’ll produce a calendar that people will want to buy and have hanging on their wall, especially if some of the images they voted for are included. Thanks for voting by the way too. Much appreciated.
Thank you Jan. I love the Rydal Tree on a misty morning. It is genuinely one of my favourite scenes in the Lake District. Others my go for crazy coloured sunrises and sunsets but you know that the Lake District has been a place that I love to shoot in ethereal, atmospheric conditions these days. Thanks for voting by the way. I hope you enjoyed the process.
Thanks Charles. You know I might just get a couple printed myself as I only have the Fogbow printed on my lounge wall. Mind you, it is 6ft by 4ft so I guess that’s big enough for now, lol.
Thank you very much Frank. It seems as though quite a lot of people struggled to decide on their final twelve images, which is exactly what I wanted. Many thanks for voting.
I could have easily voted for nearly ALL of these landscapes (with the exception of the emergency hut in Iceland). I began thinking I’d go for the seascape at Arnarstapi, Iceland because I LOVE the water rushing through the opening on the right. In the end, however, it came down the dawn to Windermere or the one below it, Lake Matheson — both with a magnificent sense of tranquility. Overall I was awestruck with your composition, your rich colors and, when needed, the softness/tranquility of some landscapes. Really, you could put 4×5’s of each one on a wall, blindfold yourself and toss darts in the directions of your prints and whatever the darts hit would make for a magnificent calendar! Thanks for sharing, Jim Dwyer
Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely comment. The fiver’s in the post, ha, ha. To be honest, I tried to select sixty images that covered a broad spectrum of subjects, weather patterns and light and to that end, I think I’m quite happy with my final selection. Sure, I too have my favourites but it will be interesting to see if they match up with the majority of those who voted. Many thanks for voting and for taking the time to write. I really appreciate it Jim. Have a great day my friend.
Thank you Erica. That’s very kind of you to say. I appreciate you voting too. I hope you enjoyed the experience. I am getting a lot of enjoyment from conversing with so many people about their choices. It’s a great way to interact with you all.
If I could walk further a mile I would sign up for a trip or two to capture some of the amazing places you visit with your excursions. My knees are shot but the mind is willing me on to take special landscapes, like your’s! 🙂
Hi Keith. What a shame that you’re somewhat limited in your mobility. Saying that, others share the same limitations and they select the workshops that are much easier to get around on such as Lofoten and Iceland as there’s a very limited amount of walking to be done on those workshops. But whatever the situation, I hope you do get out with your camera. Feel free to send me a handful if you wish. Thanks for voting by the way too.
Thank you Suzanne. I live a blessed life that’s for sure and to think that I spent three years training to become a nurse before I turned pro. Never looked back since. Thanks for voting too.
Thank you for voting Vicky. I’m rather looking forward to seeing the final result. I have had a quick peek at the results already and there’s a couple of surprise leaders.
Was very difficult to choose, so I had to narrow it down and enlist my daughter to help. Love them all! I’m sure it will be fantastic no matter which ones you use!
What a brilliant idea Jona. Getting the family involved too. I appreciate you taking the time to vote and I hope the final twelve images include some of the ones you both voted for.
Thank you for voting Hazel and for writing too. I am so pleased that I decided to throw open the decision making to you all. I am really enjoying the interaction from those who have very kindly taken the time to vote. Thanks again and I hope you enjoy the final images selected.
Thank you David. I’m really enjoying the idea that the final decision is handed to you guys. It makes the process of creating a calendar so much more fun to my mind. Thanks for taking the time to vote.
You don’t make it easy do you? I tried to choose ones from different locations! Especially Australia (I know i’m bias) Just love the Fogbow! The photos are just magic!!!
Ha, ha, so it appears Roslyn. Quite a few people have written to me privately to say pretty much the same thing, which is lovely. Trying to find sixty images to start with, is incredibly difficult. Perhaps next year I’ll limit it to just three a month. Let’s see how the next year pans out in terms of the images I captured. Fingers crossed for a bag full of gold again.
Admit it, you just couldn’t choose yourself, so we have to jump in, eh? 😉 Honestly, as expected, you didn’t make it easy for us and some months were incredibly hard to choose. Probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise that many of my favorites are either wintry or Iceland, especially as I am buzzing with excitement to finally set foot into Iceland myself in a mere three weeks! Absolutely no competition for December, though – that stunning Fogbow will probably win the overall vote, easily.
Ha, ha, I’ve been rumbled Nina. You’re absolutely correct. The problem is that sometimes you’re too close to your own work and so lose perspective so I thought why not throw the decision making over to those who will perhaps purchase the calendar. I thought it would be a great way to interact with you all too. Regarding Iceland, enjoy it. It will be quite the experience and I always love stepping foot on the land of fire and ice. It’s an exciting country that is unpredictable, much more so in the winter months as it is a living, breathing entity what with active volcanoes, ice glaciers and beaches that demand respect and a keen eye on the ocean. Enjoy.
Many thanks for voting Jonathan. I hope you had fun in selecting your favourite twelve images. I shall be most interested to see which ones make the calendar.
Thank you Patricia. You know the years seem to be flying by faster and faster with each passing year so perhaps more months in a year is the answer, lol.
Thank you very much Eduardo. I did not want to make it too easy. We all love a challenge but I appreciate you voting and I know that my 2020 calendar will be my best one yet.
What a fun idea. I really enjoyed choosing the photos. I wonder if this method will end up with a balanced selection in the end or if you’ll need to tweak it slightly? All gorgeous shots it goes without saying.
Merci pour ce merveilleux voyage. Grâce à vos photos, tout le monde peut voir les merveilles qui se cachent sur cette planète et prendre conscience de sa valeur.
Merci.
Awesome images, Melvin! I tried to spread the locations throughout the months, so did not necessarily chose what I thought was the best in each month (if you see what I mean!).
Hi Colin. I hope you’re well.
Well, thank you for voting firstly and your tactic in trying to spread out the locations throughout the months so as to not repeat a location two months running is a common one but fear not, it’s all looking great regardless of the outcome. Many thanks for voting too by the way.
Really great images Melvin . Difficult to choose !
Thinking about another “excursion “ now I have seen these !
Hi Richard. Thank you very much for voting. I guess it was a cop out this year in trying to decide on the final twelve images myself so I’m more than happy to pass the buck this year, ha, ha. I hope to see you soon.
Great pictures Melvin it’s very hard to pick well done
Thanks Steve. Much appreciated. I hope I find you well and that you’re getting out and about with your camera.
So hard to choose I was hoping Eillen Doonan Castle with the snowy background was amongst the selection.
Hi Sandi. You know as soon as I read your comment I facepalmed myself. I completely overlooked the castle image. How could I? It was one of my favourites from 2017. I could be controversial and overrule one of the months and promote it to the calendar but I think the better option would be to include it in my 2021 calendar instead.
When this is finished and you have the calenders ready let me know i will have one
Thanks Chris. I aim to have a printed calendar in my hands by the middle of August time after which point, they’ll be available for pre-order on my website. Thanks for voting by the way. Much appreciated.
Hi Melvin
What a great way to promote not only your calendar but also your tours and workshops. Such great images, it’s been difficult to choose.
Thank you Bill. I am always trying to find a way to interact with those who take the time to follow me and support me on this wondrous journey of mine and I thought why not have people get involved. Look forward to seeing the finished article Melvin!
Thank you Fiona. Me too. I might just go and take a sneaky peek at the results now that we’re halfway through the voting period.
So hard to choose just one but my favourite has to be Rydal Tree, Lake District – it’s beautiful, simple and speaks to me (and that’s important).
All superb images, all would look great on my wall!
Thanks Charles. You know I might just get a couple printed myself as I only have the Fogbow printed on my lounge wall. Mind you, it is 6ft by 4ft so I guess that’s big enough for now, lol.

Bloody hard choice
Excellent Darren. My work here is done, lol. Thanks for voting fella 🙂

Thank you Yvonne. It was a tough decision to whittle the shortlisted ones to just sixty in the first place.

Ha, ha, brilliant Soula. So I shall make FIVE different calendars specially for you then 🙂
That wasn’t as easy as I thought , but awesome images
Aww, thank you Tanya as always. I hope you enjoyed the process.

What a brilliant idea to get us to vote! Such a hard choice though, Melvin! Your shots are just AMAZING! Look forward to the finished product!
Thank you for voting Hazel and for writing too. I am so pleased that I decided to throw open the decision making to you all. I am really enjoying the interaction from those who have very kindly taken the time to vote. Thanks again and I hope you enjoy the final images selected.
Not an easy choice Melvin. Perhaps you should have an image per week rather than per month!?
Ha, ha, thanks Alina. An image a week is doable. What a great idea 😉
Great shots. I really like the voting idea, it’s fun to see what others think also.
Thank you David. I’m really enjoying the idea that the final decision is handed to you guys. It makes the process of creating a calendar so much more fun to my mind. Thanks for taking the time to vote.

An embarrassment of riches there Melvin! In 4/12 cases my choices were in the majority, about the average for me vs judges!
Admit it, you just couldn’t choose yourself, so we have to jump in, eh? 😉 Honestly, as expected, you didn’t make it easy for us and some months were incredibly hard to choose. This is a really nice idea. Many thanks for organizing it.
Many thanks for voting Jonathan. I hope you had fun in selecting your favourite twelve images. I shall be most interested to see which ones make the calendar.
Wow, beautiful images and I think we need more months in a year! ?
Thank you Patricia. You know the years seem to be flying by faster and faster with each passing year so perhaps more months in a year is the answer, lol.
So many good pictures to choose from. Perhaps you should produce a weekly calendar rather than a monthly one. ?
Ha ,ha, thanks Tony. You know you’re not the first one to suggest that but imagine the cost, lol.
Done! It was very complicated because the photos was very very astonishing. Congratulations, you’ll have a extremely beautiful calendar!
Thanks Elaine. It’s fantastic having the input from over 250 people. Many thanks for voting and I’m sure you’ll be interested in seeing the results.
