Workshop Leader: Melvin Nicholson
This workshop will have two tutors on hand to provide expert photography tuition
Slovenia is an awe-inspiring country that offers huge diversity in the scenery on offer and the subjects that we aim to photograph. It is where mountains tower at almost 9,500ft over some of the most impressive and stunning scenery in Europe. The jagged peaks, alpine forests, wooden huts and the gorgeous lakes that offer some amazing reflections of the mountains that dominate the region. Add to that the stunning changing of the colours as autumn takes hold and the misty mornings that are typical at this time of the year means that you have a superb opportunity to experience five and a half fantastic days of landscape photography.
This seven day, six night landscape photography workshop will provide you with wonderful opportunities to capture and create you own images with guidance and tuition from me if required. Our accommodation consists of a wonderfully located guesthouse in Lesce, the neighbouring town to Bled. It is perfectly positioned to reduce the amount of time spent driving to many of the most popular locations, leaving more time for your photography.
During your time with us, we will work closely to ensure that you receive whatever assistance you need to have the experience of a lifetime. We will offer all the advice needed regarding the technical elements of how to use your camera through to how to compose dynamic and exciting images. Filters are an integral part of landscape photography and on this workshop, we will cover this extensively. As an official Kase Filters partner, you will be given the opportunity to use my full range of Kase filters including advice on how and when to use them.
Here is a detailed itinerary outlining our schedule. While the itinerary looks fixed, it is really only an indication of the locations we will be visiting and the decision to alter our plans depending on the weather and light will be taken if needed.
Day 1 – Monday 14th October 2024
Marco Polo Airport Venice – Lesce
We will collect the eight workshop participants at Marco Polo Airport in Venice at 12pm (noon) in two vehicles. Once everybody is collected, we shall head to our guesthouse in Lesce, before capturing sunset at the nearby iconic Lake Bled. The evening will be spent getting to know each other over good food in a local restaurant.
Day 2 to Day 6 – Tuesday 15th – Saturday 19th October 2024
There is no fixed itinerary on this workshop as we aim to match up the best photography locations with the weather predicted.
You can see a list of the locations on offer in the ‘Details’ tab.
We aim to be out on location shooting sunrises every morning, ensuring that we are in position to capture the best subjects pre-dawn. Breakfast will either be taken in the guesthouse after sunrise or where required, on the road in the form of a packed breakfast courtesy of the guesthouse. We will be out shooting sunsets before heading back to the guesthouse to relax before eating out in local restaurants.
Day 7 – Sunday 20th October 2024
Marco Polo Airport, Venice
Early check out at the guesthouse this morning to arrive at Marco Polo Airport for 9.30am followed by the flight home to reflect on what will be an amazing week’s photography. Having spent three months in Slovenia October 2020 – December 2020, take it from me when I say, that Slovenia will have you leave a piece of your heart somewhere in the country and experiences like that takes some beating. I hope you can join me.
We will collect all the workshop participants from Marco Polo Airport, Venice on Monday 14th October 2024 at 12pm
Our base for the workshop is the four star guesthouse Pension Török in Lesce.
This ensures that we are as close as possible to the locations that we will be photographing meaning less time spent travelling in the minibus.
You will each have your own double en-suite room. Breakfast is included. There is no single occupancy supplement charged.
