The Irish coast will amaze you

The west coast of Ireland - a seascape photographer's paradise

My Ireland photography workshops and tours have been created to ensure you get to capture the best of this wonderful country. I offer you the perfect opportunity to capture the truly stunning scenery of the west coast of Ireland in a professional, friendly and enjoyable manner.

The Emerald Isle

The green isle of Ireland is a country that everyone knows and many love for numerous reasons. However, some overlook it as a location for landscape photography, often dreaming of more distant and alluring places like Iceland or the Faroe Islands.

However, you might be surprised to learn that the west coast of Ireland offers scenery and conditions that easily rivals all those other places on one’s bucket list.

In particular, Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way is absolutely packed with amazing scenery and is ideal for seascape and landscape photography.

Stunning Seascapes

Huge waves whipped up by the untamed Atlantic Sea have continuously pounded and shaped a coastline that is both dramatic and beautiful.

As a result, Western Ireland is packed with soaring cliffs, jagged rocks, towering seastacks, beautiful coves and wild peninsulas.

The wild weather also brings dramatic light and conditions that are simply perfect for seascape photography.

Beautiful Beaches

Western Ireland is blessed with some of the finest beaches in the British Isles. All along this coastline you’ll find miles of gorgeous, golden sandy beaches similar to those you’ll see at the Isle of Harris and Lewis in Scotland.

The unrestricted tides, numerous coves and inlets offer many stunning scenes to photograph.

Hills, Mountains and Valleys

It’s not all coast though. Head to the coastal inland a bit and you’ll also find an undulating landscape where rocky hills taper off into glistening verdant valleys that lead off towards the ocean.

On many of the peninsulas it’s a great chance to get up high and view this incredible landscape from above.

Offshore Islands

The west coast of Ireland is littered with offshore islands, which are easily photographed from the mainland.

On my Dingle photography workshop in County Kerry, we can easily see the Blasket Islands, an archipelago renowned for its rugged wildness.

From the Ring of Kerry we can also photograph the now famous Skellig Michael island, which was used as Luke Skywalker’s exile in the latest Star Wars trilogy.

Historic Sites

Ireland’s history goes back thousands of years and as such the country is littered with historic sites both recent and ancient.

We can photograph castles and churches beside lakes, rivers and estuaries, and also numerous neolithic sites such as dolmens, stone circles, standing stones and more.

Photograph wild seas

On my Ireland photography workshops we’ll have plenty of opportunities for photographing wild ocean scenery like this from a safe vantage point.

With professional instruction from me, we’ll work to capture the most dramatic moments and ensure you come away with amazing photographs as well as memories.
