There is not a more delightful and enchanting place in the UK during a gorgeous early summer’s day than the Yorkshire Dales. At this time of the year in early June, the meadows of Muker and Swaledale blossom with a carpet of bright yellow buttercups and white clover which surround the quaint gorgeous stone barns that line the meadows old standing stone walls.

When the sun shines down on the abundance of colour mixed with a beautiful pure blue sky and white fluffy clouds, there’s genuinely no place that i would rather be. I have been running workshops in Yorkshire for a number of years and this in the summer is one of my favourite places in the entire country. Our day will start at the stunning Cauldron Falls of West Burton in Wensleydale, where the lovely waterfall that drops down into a gorgeous plunge pool, was once painted by Turner during his wander around the Dales. This location allows us several wonderful compositions.

The early afternoon will be spent wandering among the buttercups of Muker. Because we will be visiting on a Thursday, peace and quiet will be in abundance. To finish off our day’s photography, no trip to the Yorkshire Dales is complete with visiting and photographing the patterns of Swaledale from high above as the stone walls provide endless opportunities to capture some wonderful abstract images as well as some iconic and beautiful photographs.
All in all, there is something for everyone on this very popular one day workshop. Places are strictly limited to six for this workshop and free return transport is available from Preston if required. Please note that this workshop has always sold out in good time so book your place early.

I offer FREE return travel from Preston to Yorkshire. I will be leaving Preston at 7.15am on Thursday 6th June and arriving in West Burton for 9am.

Our mode of transport for this workshop is my modern nine-seater long wheelbase Ford Tourneo minibus. This ensures that there is plenty of space for us all including luggage, clothing and camera equipment. The minibus also provides three pin plug sockets for charging up camera batteries on the go as well as several USB ports for charging up mobile phones.

One Day Lake district Workshop
This was the first time i have been on a workshop, Melvin’s relaxed but professional manor made it a fun and informative day. His photographic knowledge and his knowledge of the area is second to none overall a fantastic experience and a brilliant day.

The Lakes Workshop Oct 2018

What a brilliant, informative, one day lakes workshop. I learnt such a lot in short space of time. Melvin was patient, practical, knowledgeable as we all had different cameras. I usually shoot macro so great to jump out my comfort zone. Now I’m hooked on water & landscapes, can’t wait till the next one. Top class tutor.
