Stormy Skies, Talisker Bay, Isle of Skye, Scotland

Talisker Bay is as Icelandic as the Isle of Skye get. It’s almost a cloned copy of Vik in Iceland with its black volcanic sandy beach and the sea stack that lies in wait at the end of the cliff to the left of the bay. Not two minutes after taking this photograph, the heavens opened on me and with hailstones raining down on me at great speed. But for every minute of pain I endured, I get to spend a lifetime of pleasure looking at the photos I managed to capture so I don’t mind really. I set the camera up about six inches above the sand and allowed the water to rush in underneath it while pressing the shutter release cable as the water flowed back out. The colour in the sky was superb and the reflections in the water of the surrounding cliffs helped to make the photo what it is. I just love it.
