Mangersta Beach ICM, Isle of Lewis, Scotland

A2 or A3 print of Mangersta Beach ICM, Isle of Lewis, Scotland
ICM or Intentional Camera Movement is a technique used to create abstract images of a seascape/landscape scene, in this case the rather beautiful Mangersta Beach on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. I took the image mid March this year as the technique involved panning the camera form left to right in a quick jerky but smooth motion over half a second shutter speed. I wanted to keep the form and layers of the waves and the curved one that rolled in top right was all down to lucky timing. Shooting over just half a second allowed me to retain some texture of the water and the sand although there was no detail to be caught in the sky which provides a lovely bright layer at the top of the image. The Outer Hebrides is a perfect place to capture ICM images due to the lovely subtle colour palette and the gorgeous green aqua colours of the water.
