Lake District Photography Workshop, April 2019

£595.00

1st – 3rd Apr 2019

4 available

This three day Lake District landscape photography workshop during early spring is the perfect time of the year to visit the recently awarded UNESCO World Heritage Centre. Life is forming, flowers are blooming and the days are warmer. For landscape photography, it is just about perfect. It is quiet, peaceful and allows you to connect with nature in your own time free from the hustle and bustle of the summer visitors. Sunrise times are manageable (6.45am) allowing us to be on location for the start of the day before returning to the hotel for a hearty breakfast. I love the Lake District in the spring time.

During our three days , we shall be visiting the stunning areas of Ullswater, Derwentwater, Rydal, Coniston and the Langdales.  From watching the warm golden glow of the setting sun as it lights up the sky with its pink hues over Ashness Landing Pier on Derwentwater to capturing the early morning light at the standing stones of the 3,200 year old stone circle at Castlerigg. From witnessing the beautiful and elegant wooden steamers moored up at Derwentwater to watching the light slowly illuminate the peaks of the Langdale Pikes from the shoreline of Blea Tarn at sunrise. There are so many viewpoints to marvel at, that you will want to return again time and time again.

This three day workshop is limited to just six people as I prefer to keep the group small and friendly while allowing you enough time with me on location. I provide the accommodation, dedicated professional 1-2-1 tuition, and all transport between locations in a modern and comfortable nine-seater Ford Tourneo minibus.

THE WORKSHOP STARTS AT
10am Monday 1st and finishes 6pm Wednesday 3rd April 2019

TRANSPORT TO THE LAKE DISTRICT AND BACK TO PRESTON (if required)
I offer FREE return travel from Preston to the Lake District if anyone would prefer not to drive. I will be leaving Preston at 8.30am on Monday 1st April.

If you would like to be collected at 8.30am on the Monday and wish to stay over in Preston the night before (where I live), I recommend you stay at the IBIS Hotel at J32, M6, north end of Preston. This is a modern, well priced hotel on the edge of the M6 motorway making it easier for me to collect people and gain quick and easy access onto the M6 motorway heading north to Scotland.

TRANSPORT DURING THE WORKSHOP
Our mode of transport for this workshop is my modern nine-seater long wheelbase Ford Tourneo minibus. This ensures that there is plenty of space for us all including luggage, clothing and camera equipment. The minibus also provides three pin plug sockets for charging up camera batteries on the go as well as several USB ports for charging up mobile phones. There is dedicated heating and air conditioning for rear passengers with built in retractable side window sunblinds for extra comfort during the hot days.

ACCOMMODATION
Two nights B&B at the beautiful and highly rated four star Lake House in Ambleside is included and all rooms are single occupancy double rooms en-suite.

Tripadvisor Lake District Workshop Reviews

Lake District  October 2017 Workshop – Michael Hardi (UK)
Well what can I say about Melvin’s Workshops, his enthusiasm is infectious. His knowledge of where to get “the shot” is second to non. He lists the locations he is going to take you & if conditions are not right he will move on to the next & not just let you take a photo. If anybody has any doubts about booking on one of his workshops don’t hesitate, you will come away feeling you have learned a lot.

Lakes October 2017 October 2017 Workshop – John Sexton (UK)
Melvin is a very talented photographer and also an excellent coach and organiser. This 4 day workshop achieved the top end of my expectations and was an excellent learning experience – not just for photo composition but also for image review and processing. I recommend it highly.

4 Day Photography Workshop Lake District October 2016 Workshop – Kevin Blackshaw (UK)
Melvin Nicholson Photography – possible the best money you could spend in the Lake District this year…? I’ve just spent 4 fantastic days in the Lake District with Melvin on one of his landscape photography workshops. I joined a small group of like minded individuals and spent every hour of every day photographing the Lakes finest sights.

4 day Lake District Photography Workshop October 2016 Workshop – Laura Robjohns (UK)
This was my first time on a photography workshop of any kind and my first time shooting with other photographers. I always used to go out and photograph either solo or with a friend so this was a very new experience for me and one I had avoided up until now as I had felt a little intimidated shooting with others. Any worries or concerns I might have had were completely wiped away during the workshop. Melvin was an excellent guide and tutor around the Lake District.
