Exertion Level
Easy – All locations within half a mile from the minibus, some much closer. Some slippery rocks near the water’s edge and uneven ground. A reasonable level of fitness and mobility is required.

Come and join me as we spend the day capturing Derwentwater and Ullswater in all its glory. Both lakes offer the landscape photographer endless possibilities to capture some stunning images while I offer dedicated 1-2-1 tuition and advice.

We will start the day at 7.30am and spend the morning at Derwentwater photographing the passenger boats, wooden jetties, Friar’s Cragg and Crow Park along with the islands and the surrounding fells of Catbells and Causey Pike. followed by lunch then the afternoon at Glenridding and Pooley Bridge at Ullswater where partially wooden tree stumps and boathouses will feature.

I have spent twelve years photographing Derwentwater and Ullswater and the surrounding areas and it always remains one of my favourite places in the Lakes to photograph. The weather, water levels of the lakes and direction of the sun will dictate the exact schedule, but you can be rest assured of a great day’s photography. There will be plenty of chances to practice your long exposure techniques if you wish. There will be ample opportunities to use my range of Kase filters including their 3, 6 stop, 8 stop and 10 stop filters should you want to try to capture some long exposure images. Tuition on the use of filters is included.

On this landscape photography workshop, there is something for everyone on this very popular one day workshop. Free return transport is available from Preston in my modern comfortable nine-seater Ford Tourneo minibus if required.

I offer return travel from Preston to the Lake District. I will be leaving Preston at 6am on Saturday 8th June and arriving at the car park of the Theatre By the Lake in Keswick to meet everyone.

Our mode of transport for this workshop is my modern nine-seater long wheelbase Ford Tourneo minibus. This ensures that there is plenty of space for us all including luggage, clothing and camera equipment. The minibus also provides three pin plug sockets for charging up camera batteries on the go as well as several USB ports for charging up mobile phones. There is dedicated heating for rear passengers.

One Day Lake district Workshop
This was the first time i have been on a workshop, Melvin’s relaxed but professional manor made it a fun and informative day. His photographic knowledge and his knowledge of the area is second to none overall a fantastic experience and a brilliant day.

The Lakes Workshop Oct 2018

What a brilliant, informative, one day lakes workshop. I learnt such a lot in short space of time. Melvin was patient, practical, knowledgeable as we all had different cameras. I usually shoot macro so great to jump out my comfort zone. Now I’m hooked on water & landscapes, can’t wait till the next one. Top class tutor.
