A2 or A3 print of Callanish Standing Stones at Night, Isle of Lewis

I love stone circles, so much so that I travelled over 430 miles from Lancashire on the mainland to spend New Year’s Eve at these stunning standing stones at Callanish on the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. These 5,000 year old stones that originate from the Neolitic period, are particularly mysterious when moving about them in the dark at night. Standing there behind the camera with nothing but the sound of the wind for company, is actually quite eerie but peaceful at the same time. You definitely sense a presence among the stones and when you start to think about what must have gone before over those 5,000 years, it sends shivers down your spine, especially as those who had died were cremated and place in urns in the centre of the circle. The stones have been lit by a head torch while the moonlight illuminates the entire scene. I hope I have managed to convey the feeling of the stones at night in this image.
